Connections
Connect once, use everywhere
Register a database or a file folder one time. Everyone in the organization can then explore it, and the credentials stay on the server.
What you can do
- PostgreSQL and files. Connect a PostgreSQL or MySQL database, or use the managed valueDefine data and the sample file connection.
- Credentials stay server-side. Passwords are stored on the server and never sent back to the browser. Test a connection before you save it.
- Roles. Owners and admins manage connections; editors build on them; viewers explore published maps.
- Tables become datasets. A table is registered as a dataset the first time you use it, with its row count, extent and columns synced.
How it works
- Open Connections and choose New connection
- Enter the host and test the connection
- Browse its tables in the Data Explorer
